Vivien Roubaud, out of the walls

Graduated from the Villa Arson in 2010 Vivien Roubaud belongs to the artists collective La Station bases inside the old Nice slaughter house and also to the artists collective Culbuto. His art work has been exhibited at Paris (Palais de Tokyo), Saint - Etienne (Musée d'Art Moderne) and Singapore (Institute of Contemporary Arts). Talented handyman Vivien Roubaud experiments and twists the useful materials (engines, ...) for testing the limits of the system until the surrealism for finding an equilibrium. Vivien Roubaud creates mutable systems like his machine for making candy - floss clouds.

Vivien Roubaud doesn't follow any political or social engagement and he also doesn't try to demystify the modern material because his only purpose is to underline the importance of the do it yourself. Today it's become to be usual to throw away the objects when a problem happens without trying to mend them even if we could do it. Of course the modern material is sophisticated but Vivien Roubaud thinks like Claude Levi - Strauss has done before in his book "la pensée sauvage" (1962) that we must break the imperatives of production and profitability.
