Ben and his guests, life is a movie

Exhibition at the 109 between June 15 and October 2019, 89 Turin street, 06300 Nice, open from Thursdays to Saturdays (1pm to 6pm), phone : 07.66.38.02.02, admission free.

During the biennial dedicated to movies the 109 welcomes the painter Ben and hi friends (Mosset, Armleder, Viallat, Perrin, Pinaud, Verna, Parent, Pinighi, Combas, ...). This exhibition results from a meeting between Ben and the Arts and Movie Nice delegate Robert Roux who knows him for a long time. Third of the exhibited art work comes from Ben and have been made on the last fifty years. Inside the Ben's studio (Laboratory 32) Tonduti de l'Escarène street where he puts objects on the front he will meet some members of the Nice art school. Here Yves Klein will create a rule he will follow : takes the world without copying anything and stays the first. Following this principle he will learn all the theories and discorvers the writing potential (informations, advertisings, brandings). Ben invents his own callygraphy by writing on a piece of wood with a pipette full of acrylic painting. Happy to underline the artists art work he refuses to instaure a hierarchy among the artists when he participates but he always looks for the artists egos and now he thinks that artists are too shy.

For a long time Ben interests himeself about new things. This attraction finds his roots inside his childhood where he rises up in a beckground leaded by culture. This attraction happens also during a meeting with the painter Arman who thinks that new things are potent. This searching doesn't stop him to question about the part he plays in art at a period of time where the derivatives are so important. Ben develop his own breaking and libertarian vision at the counter current of the main point of view. He is ready to speak without any fear about involvements linked to diversity or mixed races in figthing against the far right opinion. Ben defends and protects also the regional langages and minorities. This taking risk comes from the speeches he organizes inside the Laboratory 32 with the Nice art school members and the artistic performances he holds on the Promenade des Anglais. Ben wants to show us that any borders exists between art and life because life looks like a theater.
