The American sniper film has divided America in two parts. The first is the Republican part. The Republicans in America support the movie because they support american troups in Irak and defend patriotism whatever it involves. The second part is the Democrat part. For the american Democrats the Clint Eastwood's movie is a shame for the democracy and they considere Chris Kyle as a racist killer without any feelings for the people he has killed.

Several directors have been sounded for directing the film (David O'Russell, Steven Spielberg, Clint Eastwood). Clint Eastwood has been chosen because Chris Kyle and his father have given their agreement. For the first character Clint Eastwood chooses Bradley Cooper. Bradley Cooper has done a big work for performing Chris Kyle. He has taken many weigh and an accent from Texas. The screenwriter has followed with fidelity the autobiogrphy written by Kyle in which he recognizes to have killed two hundreds persons and says that he doesn't have any regrets. The shooting has happened in California in 2014 but several scenes have been shooted in Marrocco excepted for the Falloudjah battle. The reconstitutional of this battle has been shooted 160 kilometers from San Diego.

Chris Kyle seems to be a good guy who have an important faith inside the american ideal and belongs also to the Navy Seals. Before this film the sniper wasn't the good guy in the films. For everybody the sniper was the hidden man without any sense of honor. Like the man or the men who have killed the President Kennedy in 1963. The directors and the screenwriters prefered the marksman because the marksman doesn't refuse the fight face to face with his ennemy. Clint Eastwood try in this film to give another image of the sniper. Before the war in Irak the Chris Kyle's life was the prototype of the american way of life. He leaves with his wife and is daughter in a house and is happy to be a soldier. The 11th september 2001 he watched on television the twin towers falling down. He doesn't ask himself any questions about the hypothecal mass destruction weapons, the oil trafic or the violations of human rights in the Abou Graïb jail. He has just an idea : to do his duty and to kill many enemies.

Unlike the films shooted before ("Redacted" (2007) from Brian de Palma, "The Hurt Locker" (2009) from Katheryn Bigelow and "Green zone" (2010) from Paul Greengrass) the "American sniper" film try to show a new approach of the war in Irak. On the battle field Chris Kyle is a very efficiant soldier. The miltary operations between the american army and the insurgents are linked together in a kind of routine with an obsession : to do the job. Chris Kyle recieves a surname "the legend" because he can kills insurgents with his riffle two kilometers far from him. The more he kills ond the more his legend increases and the more the insurgents want to kill him. But Chris Kyle will be confronted with a dilemna who will break his own certitudes about patriotism. During the Falloujah battle an Iraquian woman gives a grenade to his son for commiting an attack against the american troups. Chris Kyle has the young boy in his line of sight and he asks to his superior what he has to do. His suporior let him do what he wants. Chris Kyle kills the young boy but he ignores that he has killed something else too inside his own personnality.

In these movies like "J. Edgar" Clint Eastwood interests himself to the personnality of the main character. Before "American sniper" his war heroes are patriots until the obsession. With "American sniper" he depictes a broken man for what he has seen and for what he has done during the war in Irak. Chris Kyle returns home and says to everybody that he doesn't regret but his wife understands that he is really broken. She trys to help him when she founds him among the patients traumatised and seriously wounded or mutilated by the conflict. Chris Kyle trys to face but he will be killed by another traumatised soldier in a shooting range.
