The exhibition organized about the Henri Baviera's art work by the ICCA has the purpose to establish the historical evolution of his art work. The Henri Baviera art work oscillates between the land roots of his origins and his attraction for the universalism. Born in 1934 in Saint - Paul - de - Vence (France) he frequents the Trachel art school in Nice. He initiates himself to the engraving under the advices of professionnals artists (Menfredo Barsi, Emliro Celli, Edouardo Fer). Between 1960 and 1963 he stays in Paris and perfect his technics in several art academies including the Calvaert - Brun studio.
Henri Baviera "Forces contraires" (1970) and "Modifications" (1970)
The Henri Baviera art work's goes towards different phases who traduce the oscillation between his personal roots and his attraction for the universalism. His first art work period could be qualified as the minimalist period. This period extend between 1960 to 1967 but also between 1969 to 1974. This period begins after the shock that Baviera improves when he sees the burning land of Andalousy (Spain) and the col de Vence rocks. He develops a rough universe where he explores the essential elements towards the caseine and the mixing paintings. Henri Baviera follows this way when he wonders himself by the most little form of the univese : the point. The point must endure high strengths who alter him. Baviera shows the result of these strenghts towards black and white paintings.
Henri Baviera "Intra - extra" (1975) and "Human pluriel" (1987)
The Henri Baviera art work will follow a much more oneiric period between 1974 and 1988. This period is dominated by the dreams and traduce a kind of absence of inspiration for the painter. During that time he must endure and resolve many personal problems and his paintings show us his spirit in that time. He interrogates himself about the meaning of his work. He paints many paintings who look like dreams with landscapes, persons and objects. This period was over when he decided to let the minimalism down.
The third period begins between 1966 and 1970 when Henri Baviera decides to use Polyester resin. This kind of resin is also use by boat factories for making the hull of the boats. the introduction of new materials (cuted wood, coloring, marbles and lights) belongs tot that time but it helps him to let the minimalism down. He will follow this way when will introduce the window them in these paintings. The window creates an opening who helps the spectator and the painter to be out of the convas limits. They appriopriate themselves the painting topic's and let the technics down. Now Henri Baviera continues to develop his own vision of the world and experiments other colors connected with the water, the air and the fire.
