The Ernest Pignon Ernest exhibition at the Saint - Pons Abbey follows the MAMAC's retrospective. During his artistic perfomances in the streets of Naples Ernest Pignon Ernest has ridden the writing of the holly and mystic christian women (Marie Madeleine, Thérèse d'Avila, ...) and the testimonies of their confessors. All the women have been considered as mad women but all the testimonies show a physical love for Jesus - Christ until being desembodied. The printed pictures of these mystics women show us bodies like sculptures with a deep vertigo who remember us the interest improve by Ernest Pignon Ernest for the printed bodies.
For showcasing us the tormented and mystics women Ernest Pignon Ernest has chosen the Saint - Pons Abbey. Build in 775 by the emperor Charlemagne after his military campaign against the Lombards (773 - 774) for realizing the wish of his nephew Siagrius who will become the first bishop of the Abbey. This Abbey is a tribute to the christian martyr Saint - Pons. Pons was a senator in Rome and has succeeded to escape for protecting himself of the roman persecutions against the christians. He has founded a safe place in Nice but few months after he is arrested, tortured and killed on a rock near the Abbey (257). For making the mystic's bodies Ernest Pignon Ernest has inspired himself by the famous dancer Bernice Coppieters from the Monte - Carlo Ballet.
