The exhibition "Architect, forms, colors" is the only on organizes by the Space group between July and September 1954 in an olive field on the territory of the Biot city. The Space group has been created after a meeting of the architect André Bloc and the painter Felix del Marle. The Felix del Marle artistic work mixes the rigorous with a lyric constructivism. He desires to realize the synthesis of the arts and he wants to integrate the colors inside the architecture. The architect Andre Bloc estimates that art, painting, sculpture and architecture are social phenomenons. Like del Marle he inspires himself by the constructivism. He applies to the architecture the geometrical conception of the space.

The Space group is created the 8th of June 1951 and meet together some of the most important painters and architects of that time (Etienne Boithy, Sonia Delaunay, Jean Dewasne, Jean Govin, Felix del Marle, André Bloc, Victor Vasarely, ...). In the context of the french reconstruction after the bombings of the second world war and also the rising of the french economy the group wants to create a synergy between art and architecture. The members of that group hope to work to commission for the french state for building big buildings. One of the members the artist Servanes has already worked with both architects Bloc and Zherhfuss for building the front of the french Renault factory in Flins. The influence of the Space group became to be important all over the world.

The exhibition is a great success until his ending the 10th of September 1954. André Bruyère directs a short movie and Denis Bréhot takes some pictures. The short movie is shooting in a shooting room in front of the Space group members the 18th of February 1955 during a meeting at Saint - Cloud. After this shooting they decide together to hold a new exhibition for June 1957 but the events will become much more complicated. Fernand Léger dies suddenly in August 1955 and divergences appear among the members. The exhibition project becomes to be over when the artist Servanes rejects the artistic choices of the Space group in February 1957. Few months after she leaves the group with Jean Govin. The consequence of the Servanes leaving is to carry back the exhibition until the dissolution of the Space group the 5th of October 1963.
