During an exhibition in a highschool an old man stops himself in front of a picture an explains the story of Jarvis and Jerico. Jarvis and his family lives in the south of the United - States. His father works in a local printing house and he knows perfectly his job but he doesn't accept to occupy a subordinate job. The Jarvis brother is a promising student who wants to become a doctor but the situation will take another turn because the klan kills the Jarvis brother. This killing affects deeply Jarvis and his family. Twenty years after the American president Johnson signs the Civil Rights Act who breaks the social segregation introduced in the USA by the Jim Craw laws at the end of the 19th century.

Jarvis works at the same local printing house as his father does. His director appreciates him and he envisages to give him more responsabilities. The Jarvis best friend calls Jerico. Jerico is a cleaver man and also a very extravert person. He doesn't hesitate to seduce the young Georgia he loves, to penetrate on the property of the racist Edwards, to save the young EJ and his friend Jarvis of a lynching by putting the wardrobe of a white sheriff and to convince a white racist woman that she has interest to let the African - Americans to go in her bar for earning much more money.

In spite of the Jerico skill Jarvis doesn't succeed to obtain the job he wants at the local printing house because he arrives too late to his job interview. Their lives are also threatened by the racist Edwards and his two sons because they don't accept the fact that Jerico and Jarvis have taken the young EJ free. Edwards catches Jarvis and tries to lynch him but a local congregation stop that. They take the Edwards weapon and give that man to the police. Edwards and his two sons are putting in jail where they must to share their cellars with African - Americans convicts. The Jarvis boss gives him a promotion, a car and his own printing house when he understands that his own brother has lynched the Jarvis brother.
