The Belgian film director Joachim has filmed the famous "Arche de Zoë" case who is an humanitarian failure. Towards the film he speaks about a topic which isn't very easy to shoot for Western film makers and also for African film makers. Shooting such topic is something very difficult because the humanitarian action is complex and appears as a mix between the emergency, the efficiency and the good will but can also be roundabout sometimes. The screenplay recalls us the true "Arche de Zoë" story but with some differences : the name of the country where the action happens isn't mentioned, the NGO who wants to save the children is entitled "Move for Kids" and the name of the NGO members have been changed.
The film show us how the humanitarian action can be roundabout. The members of a NGO have succeeded to convince the elders and the inhabitants of a village in Africa to give them their children. They have understood that the people are very poor and their only argument is to say that the children will be raising up in an orphan - home near the village. For having more children the NGO members have given money. The only purpose of the NGO members is to put the children inside a plane for sending them near France where some families have given money for having a child. The army succeed to arrest the NGO members before the take - off the plane. The NGO members don't know anything about the African societies and their watch is a mix between naïvety, partiality and contempt.
"The white knights" shows also the contradictions and the real personality of the NGO members. The NGO leader personality is a mix between an humanitarian person and an illuminated person. He considers himself as a protector of the duty to interfere theorized by Bernard Kouchner but in fact he just loves himself and he thinks that he is a kind of knight. The leader's girlfriend and some members of the NGO improve the same feelings. The two only persons who understand that this operation will be a failure is the plane pilot and a young African interpret. They try to explain the reality to the others NGO members but these persons want to listen anything.
