Seydou Keita (photographer)
The Seydou Keita pictures deal with a period of time and a specific country : the Mali before and after the independence in 1960. He portraits some Malians middle class who love the modernity and who are influenced by the Western fashion. For shooting his clients he puts them just in front of a wall where he has hang a texture. He makes only one picture in black and white colors but with a dynamic framing and a slow luminosity who underline his clients. In 1962 Seydou Keita stops shooting and becomes official photographer of the Malian Government. With the help of Andre Magnin the Seydou Keita art work will be discover again in 1994.
