Until 1994 André Ostier shoots the potent painters of the 20th century and also the most extravagant parties of Paris. Everything begins when he meets during his studies the fashion creator Christian Dior who gives him the advice to become a journalist. André Ostier succeeds to be the friends of the painters of that time (Maillol, Bonnard, Matisse, ...) and will immortalize them inside their own studios (Banyuls, le Cannet, Cimiez, ...). These pictures catch the spirit, the energy and the landscape of these artists like Matisse working in front of his canvas in 1942. After 1945 André Ostier widens his work on writers, fashion and architecture covering the parisian parties where sophisticated wardrobes are highlighted. A big retrospect organized by the New - York French Institute in 1988 underlines the part playing by the one who has participated with Robert Doisneau and Cecil Beaton to the "Big Party of the century" in Venice.
