Henri Matisse begins sculpting when he meets Auguste Rodin for the first time in November 1889 inside his own studio at the rue de l'Université in Paris. The sculptor thinks that the painter owns a talent specially in his deep searching. Matisse will make 84 sculptures between 1900 and 1950 who are all connected with his paintings. He finds his inspiration in Michel - Ange, in classical and cubism art work. The Matisse sculptures represent all nude females. He begins by making a sketch and work after until the most simplification he can. The Matisse purpose is to unify painting and sculpting. The Matisse Museum in Nice own all the Matisse sculpting and it trials some of them for famous exhibitions like the one in the Zürich Kunsthaus.
