The collective from Berlin "Slavs and Tatars" works about involvements in the livinga area between Asia and Europe. In this area several empires (Persian, Russian, Ottoman, Chinese, ...) have rised up and fall down creating identities based on melting cultures. For depicted these identities the "Slavs and Tatars" artists use the cultural hybridization by interesting themselves with the assimilation of words, tools and symbols who don't go easily together. "Slavs and Tatars" practise a syncretism we can find first in their name puting together the Slavs (the first slaves) and the Tatars (the free wariors). This syncretisme build itself on the transliteration meaning transcription of signs belonging to a writing system to another. It needs to take the fermentation as way of destroying but also keeping. Without forgetting a kind of humour but never against the others. Following the tradition of the fool wiseman (Molla Nasreddin) or Middle Age jesters they integrate antagonists ideas for arousing polemics ("PrayWay"). The exhibition "Regions of being" articultates itself around three of four years circles. With the support of huge knowledges it tributes the regionalism as way of protecting indentities against the globalization and the nationalism.
