The Chicago mayor Richard Daley represses with violence the people involve in and seven (Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden, David Dellinger, Ronnie Davis, John Froisses and Lee Wiener) including too the Black Panther Party founder Bobby Seale were prosecuted for conspiracy. During two hours the spectator can watches a trial with pleadings out of breath alternating with flashs back showing us the foolish of a system protecting by a psychorigid judge (Franck Langella) and the different personalities of the accused people. The trial will end on a failure because all the charges will be let down (February 1970) and all the people will sentence as non guilty when the justice will know that the FBI has overheaded the lawyers. "The trial of the Chicago seven" deals with a period of time linked with today like the George Floyd killing but finding a film director wasn't easy to do. At the begining Steven Spielberg calls the awarded script writer Aaron Sorkin for the writing but few months after he decides to go away from the project. Several films directors (Ben Stiller, Paul Greengrass) try to take the Spielberg place but nobody wants giving money for making the movie. Following the production wish Aaron Sorkin takes the movie direction. "The trial of the Chicago seven" isn't only a movie dedicated to the 1968 demonstrations it also speaks about the contemporary story of the United States of America.
