Fatou Cissé the daugther of the film director Souleymane Cissé makes a documentary dealing with the life of his father since the beginning. She wants to show the problems he must resolve for doing movies because no real motion picture industry exist and no money is send by any investors. The Souleymane Cissé story begins when he was a young child spending time in a small movie theater in a poor background and watches a documentary speaking about the Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba. He knew that he wanted to make movies but didn't know how. In 1962 Souleymane Cissé moves to Moscow for leaning pictures building at the VGIK until 1969. At the beginning of the 1970's he works in the information department of the Mali Republic and travels towards the country with his own camera on the shoulder. Souleymane Cissé decides during this travel to let his job down for underlining topics that the power doesn't interst in like left children ("Cinq jours d'une vie", 1971), the single mothers ("Den Muso", 1975), the workers ("Baraa", 1978), a students uprising ("Finyè", 1982) selected for the 1982 Cannes Film Festival. Recognized by the other famous film makers as one of them he receives an award at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival for "Yeleen" a film explaining how being an adult. Fatou Cissé leads the Films Cissé producing his father's pictures an other pictures too and she uses this documentary for highlighting the different facets of Soleymane Cissé personality with his contradictions, his commitments and his analysis of the African society.
