The Nice Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art tributes Marcel Alocco an artist who has succeeded to construct an original career from the 1960's until today. At the beginning he follows literature studies under the direction of Georges Duby for becoming teacher because he loves writing. But Marcel Alocco owns a link with art making since his childhood when his grandmother offers him a color box. This link will rise up during school with receiving an art price and his meeting after inside Ben shop's Tonduti de l'Escarène street where he also speaks about art in America with Arman. The art market was closed for young artist at the end of the 1950's in Nice and they only can show their work in the former Ponchettes gallery. Marcel Alocco understands quickly that he must create his art style. Like the famous Rorschach test does he paints some tasks on canvas and let people imagine the answers. Marcel Alocco names this new type of painting "the ideogrammaire" because the tasks look like asian ideograms. Inspired by the dada spirit who fight against foolish ideas Marcel Alocco stops "the ideogrammaire" making and creates the patchwork painting at the beginning of the 1970's. He directly paints on a sheet some emblematic pictures from different times or civilisations and reproduces also others artists works like Ben or Viallat because he thinks that they are just lazzy men. Marcel Alocco doesn't end art making. His last challenge stays as cuting sheets for keeping strings he knots around a stick for building abstract compositions questioning art.
