Tributing the 150th birth of the impressionnist movement the Orsay museum of Paris lends the Monet painting "The villas at Bordighera" (1884) to the Fine - Arts museum of Nice. During hus own career Monet has done more than 2000 works specialy Normandy and Ile - de - France landscapes but not so much from Riviera. The painter discovers the French Riviera in 1883 with Auguste Renoir and moves again alone one year after and stays there three months making fourty six paintings. "The villas at Bordighera" represent a landscape of the Italian Riviera with a part of the Bischoffheim villa the tower now names Ellinda villa and the Moreno garden with some palm threes, an aloes and a mimosa. Underlining by the light the colorfull garden seduces Monet with all the plants living in a kind of anarchy. Like all the decoratives painting he has done before Monet uses the square for his canvas frame and offers it as a gift to the only woman owning to the impressionnists Berthe Morizot. She will be very happy and bring it to one of her sleeping room of her house in Paris.
