In 1776 Benjamin Franklin travels through the Atlantic ocean to Paris where he must succeed to build an allaince between the Americans insurgeants and the French monarchy. This union seems to be strange between rebels fighting for their freedom and a regime leads by absolutism but the insurgeants need quickly supports. During his trip Franklin spends time in scientific experiences but when he arrives in the harbor of Nantes he recieves a friendly welcome. Far from the sophisticated dress codes of the nobleness Franklin helped by Voltaire and Turgot integrates the French intellectual networks. Living in Paris he reads books, has a love affair with madame Brillon, writes some reports and meets influent politics like le comte de Vergennes the former foreign minister of king Louis XV, Beaumarchais and le marquis de La Fayette. During these talks he understands that these politics want to take their revenge to the Brits and also ready to send soldiers and give money. As a sly diplomat Franklin waits until the Saratoga battle victory (February 1778) for opening talks who will end by the Treaty of Paris highlighting the United - States independance. Taking his place among famous thrillers "Franklin" is well directed and the dialogs spoken in French and English depict history in times where democracy stays potent more than ever.
