Fashion photographer since fourty years Bettina Rheims the daughter of the auctioneer Maurice Rheims has been trained to pictures making by Walter Carone and Serge Bramly. Sculpting, old dutch painters, Paul Gauguin and Henri de Toulouse - Lautrec deeply influence Bettina Rheims way of doing. She builds her pictures with attention but few can classify her style but she highlights women bodies underlining frigility and strength. Bettina Rheims follow all the times the same process. Everything begins by a relationship builds on trust and continue with a preparation involving details about wardrobe and hair style until the abandonment. Pictures making help women being free and claiming their own talents like in pictorialism (Julie Margareth Cameron), in New Vision (Germaine Krull), in documentary (Dorothea Lange) or in humanism (Sabine Weiss). Since het first strippers artists photographies in Pigalle cabarets (1978) to disc jacket artists (1980's) until private rooms (1990's) Bettina Rheims doesn't respect the traditionnal iconography. The Bettina Rheims art style stays potent today because she continues to explore others fawcets of our societies like the injailed women serie (2018) prove it.
