Under the sand

Exhibition at the 109, contemporary center of culture until October 12th, 2024, 89 Turin street, 06300 Nice, open from Wednesday to Saturday (11am - 6pm), admission free.

 

The collective exhibition highlights itself in the Grande Halle and asks about the competence to document our time. The using of archives and some experiences help Laura Lafon - Cadillac speaking about disturbing story of Chile made by hopes, struggles and illusions. Her pictures appeals people living in to imagine the future. Guillaume Chamahian builds an iconographical will puting together politics, history and science for depicting our societies leaded by show and their codes. He also follow the same purpose as Laura Lafon - Cadillac who means thinking about the future. Marie Hervé and Elsa Martinez use pictures as tools who must give us advices for constructing the most cleaver choices. Feelings like nostalgia play an important part in as ghosts of our western societies. A disused sugar refinery in the North of France serves as set for Amélie Landry for underlining the architectural styles introducing in as a proof of a great industrial success but also a loosing know - how today. The mining activities in the Var department (83) an Spain are taken by Terence Pique for showing how it breaks landscapes and help us understanding better the mountains. With the support of three colors (the red, the yellow and the green) Terence Pique bring introduces an unreal perception of reality. "Under the sand" ends with Thibault Tourmente and his pictures inventory. He collects and exhibits some pictures from papers, magazines or scientific books et sticks on a wall. Without any meaning these look like a snapchat of our time.
