During the 1950's a young mannequin names Niki de Saint Phalle poses for "Vogue", "Life" or "Elle" and works under the direction of the French photographer Robert Doisneau for Simca advertising. Married with the American poet Henri Matthews and children mother she suffers from a nervous breakdown in 1953. The doctors decide to put her inside an institution for being cured by using electric schock treatment. This treatment will disturb her memories helping her living away a distroying secret. Inside the institution she discovers raw art known as the art of mad men theorizing by Jean Dubuffet in 1945 and decide belong artist as new life. Painting help her highlighting feelings, fears or hopes. The passionated portrait of Niki made by Céline Sellette moves towards Spain with the meeting of Gaudi art in Bercelona who has played an important part on Niki's works. At the beginning of the 1960's Niki integrates the "New Realists" movement rejecting abstraction and depicting the new realities of the mass consumption society. She includes this commitment in her work like the "Nanas" talking about women or by supporting African - American struggle. Niki will become to be famous with her "shots" an artisitc performance where she shot with a riffle on pockets full of colors who fall down on assemblings. "Niki" discribes the first years of Niki de Saint Phalle as artist with the ephemeral and orientated performances but and it isn't due to the film director we can't see any Niki de Saint Phalle works because Celine Sallette doesn't have the legal rights to do so.
