The seed of the sacred fig

The Mohammad Rasoulof film title awarded at the last Cannes Film Festival means that a tree the fig can grow inside another and succeeds to break it like freedom who will distroy the evil. The seed talks about the police shootings against people inside demonstrations. "The seed of the sacred fig" show us a family living in the Islamic republic of Iran with the father Iman becoming judge for his loyalty with he regime supporting the repression against the opponents. He doesn't hesitate sentincing hardly including the youth. The mother Najmeh belongs to those following by submission or ideology dening the reality until she will be confrontated to the atrocities when a young wounded teenager tries to find a safe place in her home. The beginning of the movie happens when Mohammad Rasoulof is put in jail after a demonstration. A guard gives him a pen and tell him that he doesn't approve the repression against the youth. So the film director decides to depict the generations gap. During the 1980's the religious propaganda controled the minds but now like the two Iman's daughters the youth uses Internet, the social networks and the phones for talking with the world far from censorship and islamic veil. Directing "The seed of the sacred fig" wasn't something easy to do because at first Mohammad Rasoulof must find person available to involve themselves in without konwing each details. The movie crew should fight with success against all difficulties using discretion, courage and trust. At the end of the shooting the film director Mohammad Rasoulof is prosecuted by the islamic republic of Iran and sentenced to eight years. Just before the sentence he decides to run away to Europe. Now the censorship continues to insult Mohammad Rasoulof but "The seed of the sacred fig" prove us the creativity and freedom still exist in Iran in spite of the mollahs dictatorship.
