Dealing with Matisse work is something full of feelings. When he was twenty years old he follows studies at the Julian Academy in the studio of the painter Gustave Moreau teaching him perspective and anatomy. Moreau incite his students copying masters exhibited at the Louvre Museum but also building their own style. The first Matisse canvas stay very classical but quickly he looks for something new towards details, deepth or light. The still life plays an important part in Matisse work because it helps him understanding matter well and constructing a relationship with space until an equilibrium. Under the influence of impressionnists painters and the english painter Turner he moves to Pont - Aven where works a lot outside. Light will twist the way he uses colors towards colorfull. After Pont - Aven Matisse meets Signac the pointillism movement leader for speaking with him then I creates the fawism. At the 1905 Automn Salon the highlighted Matisse canvas let down codes underlining shiny colors disturbing art critics. In 1917 Matisse lives in Nice but when he arrives it was a rainy weather and he decides to leave but after the rain comes the sun and everything will be fine. Until 1918 he speaks about many topics like the odalisques, the inner places or his studio breaking with vanguards, coming back to matter, depth or details. At the and of the 1930's Matisse moves back to Nice and rents a room at the Régina Hotal near Cimiez transforming it as a studio. There he develops his art style (line, details, colors) but including also the models personnality. Matisse involve him a lot in artistic institutions dedicated to modern art and realizes posters for advertising campaign.
