After two shorts movies the film director Akinola Davies directs now a feature movie with his brother Wale about the November 1993 political crises ended by a coup leaded by Sani Abacha. Since the independance in October 1rst 1960 the country has been counfrontated to many ethnical tensions between the Igbos, the Yorubas and the Haoussas. These tensions will be dealing about in the next Akinola Davies movie on the Niger river delta challenges like environment and the nature portection against drilling companies. During the 1960's oil will be find in the Igbo area and the incomes sharing involve by drillings asks itself. A bloody civil war happens known as the Biafra war between 1967 to 1970. After the surrending of Biafra soldiers the Nigerians generals take the power first for keeping calm but also for stealing money. During the 1980's a new generation of writers like the Nobel prize Wole Soyinka fight for democracy and succeed to arouse Nigerian, generals organizing elections in November 1993. The election of the business man Abiola seems to be a new beginning but the minister of interior Abacha doesn't agree and takes the power. The Davies brothers live inside the 1993 demonstrations coming in Lagos the Nigerian economic capitale known as wild, sprawling and full of life involve by oil rising prices in a country where wages are too low. Their father is always absent from the house but now he takes his both children with him for giving to them a political experience like a kind of training for being adult. "My Shadow's father" show us the vitality of African movies making with film directors or script writers available to speak about of many contemporary topics.
