Founded in 1949 the Paris Match magazine wanted to be the French version of the famous American news magazine "Life" highlighting photojournalism. The editorial line at the beginning didn't give any importance to fashion. At the contrary it oscillates between sport and war included decolonization wars. But the French people needs to watch many pictures for forgotten the second world war and the bloody memories involved by it. Fashion, models and gossips looks like a perfect alternative but the number of TV wasn't very high during the 1950's. So the people decide to buy and read magazines dedicate to fashion. The Paris Match chief editor understands this and hiring well known photographers like William Rizzo or Walter Carona for catching the people will and building a modern, artistic and may be political fashion leaded by glamour. These photographers cover the inside from studios to parades and the outside in the streets. They also become heroes when Hergé the Tim creatror introduce them in the album "Les bijoux de la Castafiore" (The Castafiore jewels) as plot parts in an alleged robbery.
