Using portrait, painting or color Elizabeth Colomba gives another and important part in art to black women following an artistic and political commitment in a place where they have been neglected for long times. Borns in France (Epinay - sur - Seine) from West Indies islands parents she practises earlier watercolors, visiting a lot museums like le Louvre learning many old dutch masters painters and reading the famous John and Monique du Ménil book "l'image du noir dans l'art occidental". Elizabeth Colomba wanted during her childhood being Picasso but she chooses to expatriate herself to United - States for working in motion picture industry as script writer and illustrator too. But a decisive meeting with Deborah Wills will change everything in her life. Known as a potent person in the artistic scene Deborah Wills underlines forgotten African - American photographer in a ditactic way. Under her advices Elizabeth Colombo becomes painter and famous after her twisting of the maid part inside the Manet  "Olympia". Each paintings needs between 4 to 5 months for being done and we can find recurrent thing or element in like mirors, interrogative or friendly models watch and also sophisticated wardrobes wearing by women in rich and wonderful places. Elizabeth Colombo plays with codes reinterpreting mythological, historical and allegorical stories integrating black women in. The painting names "Cockfighters" show us two animals fighting together in front of a girl like the battle between French and Brit memory for taking the control of Martinique island (1794) is a good exemple. Elizabeth Colombo highlights also forgotten heroïns including Mary Ellen Pleasant who hears some important informations during business lunches in American west coast and after using it for doing profitable investments. Present in many collections public or private her work invokes Vermeer baroque magnificence, Ingres orientalist phantasme and the lightness of the rococo movement with Vigée Le Brun and Fragonard.
