"The secret agent" begins as western spaghetti coming from Brazil does where dogs are fighting together for eating a dead body living on the ground. During this time a fourty years man wearing a beard buys gasoline for his yellow coccinelle car. The oil dealer indicates him that police doesn't care about Recife carnival because they only look for people trying to escape Brazil country. Following the codes of famous Americans movies like the Spielberg "Duel" (1971) or the Tobe Hooper "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" (1974) the film director introduces the gas station as a safe place in the middle of nowhere. Old intellectual and also teacher in university Marcello (Wagner Moura) moves to Recife the film director city life after the missing of his wife for finding his son who stays with his pictures projectionist grandfather. He arrives in Recife carnival times and occupies an appartment he rents among people sharing many secrets. The Marcello son imagines his father under the Jean - Paul Belmondo features in "Le Magnifique" Philippe de Broca film (1973) in spite of his father tries to hide himself pursued by two killers. Marcello builds a new identity, tries to fight against his nightmares, fall in love with a woman neighboor and keep watches his son living in  a speed way. Kléber Mendonça Filho speaks about the daily life dictatorship the Brazilian in the 1970's where everybody want just surviving. Awarded in the last Cannes Film Festival (Staging award and Best actor award) and also in race for the 2026 Golden Globes "The secret agent" highlights Wagner Moura known for his performance as Pablo Escobar ("Narcos"). The actor lived the last years of the Brazilian dictatorship and he wants to tell to youth people the danger of such regime.
