In the Paolo Sorrentino movie "La Grazia" the actor Toni Servillo performs Mariano de Sentis the president of the Italian Republic few weeks before the end of his term inside the Quirinal Palace. Conservative, lawyer and inconsolable widow he lives among sweet and bitter wife memories with the support of his daughter, his bodyguard and some highschool friends. Mariano de Sentis owns power indicated in the beginning of the movie and must do choices about a law and forgiven may be two people involved in a murder. Known as a strong man he considers power as a sacrifice keeping secret his private life but everybody think that he has done the job. His daugther watches him and the art critic Coco Valerio tries to introduce more fun but Mariano de Santis stays a man full of doubt. The film maker Paolo Sorrentino uses Italian presidents like Sergio Matarella, Oscar Luigi Scalfaro or Carlo Azeglio Ciampi for building a strong character available to stay quiet and competent among the disorder of the Italian politics. A big friendship due to common roots in the city of Napoli exist between the film director Paolo Sorrentino and the actor Toni Servillo. The actor comes frome the stage and it helps him to be a good observer. Toni Servillo improves a huge admiration fior the Louis Jouvet thinking in which actor and character must be one. He also speaks about Michel Bouquet distinction between theater and picture making. The stage actor is a king and the others look like pawns in struggle of forces.
