Anuschka and Antoinette on the road to Katmandou

"Instantané d'histoire" owns 20 episods directed by Jérôme Lambert and Philippe Picard dealing with contemporary history towards pictures or short movies done by beginners. All of these private stories have been tall by a voice and help understanding better the histoiry. In 1968 the youth conquers liberty and tries to find new spiritual ways far from materialism. Two twenty years old women Anuschka and Antoinette to move to Nepal by using a Volkswagen small bus. The both love travelling bringing with them the absolute minimum including a camera for making many pictures as holidays without any framing and sepia colors. Their characters are in the opposite and during the travel it provokes confrontations but they always succeed to reconciliate themselves. Anuschka and Antoinette cross Europe until Turquey the Asia gate to Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan until Nepal. During the trip they experiment drugs and free love with a group of former Americans GI working in Iran as technicians. Attracted by the landscapes and cultures Anuschka and Antoinette are confrantated to old conservatives traditions in Ispahan (Iran) or in the south of Afghanistan where men reject the western way of life. Anuschka challenges codes but she prefers staying in car for making pictures protecting herself from physical assaults. At the beginning of 1976 the both arrive in Goa the hippies paradise an unmissable step before Katmandou. Antoinette finds her husband again coming by plane and begins to question herself about the reasons of their adventure improving a kind of blues. At the same time the advertising compagnies twist the hippies codes for generating a desire building a new trip profitable industry. For Anuschka and Antoinette the purpose of travelling is understanding better herself or the others but in Katmandou their dream is broken. The hippies don't have any relationships with inhabitants and take drugs all the times. Three years after the hippies utopia is definitively out when islamists take the power in Iran and Soviet Union invades the Afghanistan. Today Anuschka and Antoinette are mothers and look to past with nostalgia.
