Amy Sherald becomes to be famous when she paints for the first time the official portrait of the first lady Michelle Obama exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery of Washington DC. Amy Sherald tries always to be herself in painting and finds also her inspiration inside american history but keeping a critical watch about it. In the Amy Sherald family (state of Georgia) art makinh doesn't paly an important part because the obly spare times was learning bible each fridays evenings. But with the support of her mother she follows summer time art program and also participating to a competition organized by the National Portrait Gallery where she wins an award. Amy Sherald paints people as she sees them without any references to art books and only by using the grey color for the skin. The purpose following by Amy Sherald is building a world far from injustices ans stereotypes (background, culture, color of the skin). Art making helps finally Amy Sherald to accomplish herself and also building connections with people living out her own environment.
