Born in the city of Nice the artist Caroline Trucco exhibits for the first time at the museum contemporary art gallery. She builds a strong relationship with West Africa (Togo, Sénégal, Benin, ...) after discovering anthropology and will rise it up through several trips. Awarded from the Pavillon Bosio (Monaco) and receiving a grant Caroline Trucco owns many knowledges who will help her for making the exhibition dealing with colonialism and his story. Everything begins with "Bons baisers de Calais, bons baisers de Vintimille" depicting the violence against the immigrants (controls, exile, ...) in transit areas. The installation names "La saison des luttes" highlighting wood and video tapes tributing  the UPC leader Ruben Um Nyobé action during the Cameroon colonial war (1955 - 1967). "Les statues meurent - elles aussi ?" installation constructs with African masks staying there without any order just for the export explaining the African people suffering. The canvas serie "Tristes tropiques" comes from the Claude Levy - Strauss book where he commits himself in the preservation of primitive people against consumption. Caroline Trucco takes some squares form the Hergé paternalists cartoon "Tim in Congo". On a black surface she sticks details or scene depicting paternalism. Caroline Trucco puts also face to face African and Greek scultpures as an answer to the film director Alain Resnais question in 1953 surprised to watch any African sculptures in the European Museums. The exhibition ends with an question about the part playing by African art. Before WWII the colonial institute of Nice who will stop his activities after the war owns some sculptures. The institute purpose was to use it for giving a friendly point of view of colonialism. Now the sculptures stay at the Palais Lascaris reserves but tomorrow African countries could introduce demands for giving them back.
