The super eight years

Between 1945 and 1975 the France lives the happy "Thirty glorious times" as the economist Jean Fourastié said with a cheaper energy, a technics progress and full jobs. A new middle class will also access to the mass  consumption. The ancestor of the smartphone the super eight camera becomes the new totem of this social class with the washing machine and the television. Philippe Ernaux the husband of the Nobel laureate of literature Annie Ernaux buys one of them and will direct between 1971 and 1981 the daily life of the Ernaux family. Everything begins when the president Pompidou leads France and Philippe owns an important position inside the French administration. With his camera he directs his wife Annie working on his desk, playing with their two children Eric and David or during christmas time. The Ernaux family belongs to the liberal upper class and they have enough money for moving abroad visiting the Chile of Allende, The USSR or Marocco. Unlike the other liberals Annie Ernaux says in the film that she understands the lies of the communists about the communist world and also underlines the deepth of their lies. The spectator can watch tv interviews about the first Annie Ernaux novel "Les armoires vides" (1974) in which she uses her own autobiographical way of writing. "The super eight years" makes the analysis of France leaded by the former president Valery Giscard d'Estaing until the winning of the president Mitterrand at the 1981 presidential election as a socioligist does. The carefree years ends in 1981 for everyone before more hard times.
